McCain's Trip to Give Away Our Jobs

*** Update! Today's job loss numbers came out with nearly 1/2 MILLION lost so far this year and where is McCain? He is in Mexico talking about how to send more American jobs south of the border. This guy is really out of touch! ***

McCain's rabid support of NAFTA and CAFTA (Colombian Free Trade Agreement) are well known.

Today he travels to Central and South America to promise countries there that he will be sure to send our jobs to them if elected.

Funny that McCain is for giving us all a few cents as part of a gas tax holidays that would cost American construction jobs and now he flaunts our pain as he travels to give away our jobs.

He has the same policy on Iraq. Undying support for the government in Baghdad while he does NOT support the new GI bill until he puts his wet finger in the political air and flip flops on the issue. It is also totally acceptable to him to give billions to the Iraqi while we are suffering a massive economic downturn at home.

This is not just about Republican vs. Democrat. McCain is a VERY scary guy because he acts erratically. Some may call is being a maverick, I call schizophrenic.

A vote for McSame is to doom our children to endless war and economic ruin.

Yes, the only people who matter in this world are Americans. Economies are like giant drums of water. Make sure there are no holes anywhere, and we will remain rich rich rich.

The reality is that a richer Colombia and Mexico does good things for the American economy. And they won't become richer if their biggest market (the United States) doesn't trade with them.

Never mind the resentment which builds when a bunch of rich Americans (relative to Colombians or Mexicans) put trade barriers against Colombian or Mexican goods. You are advocating a policy that is sure to impoverish America in the long term as it makes our products uncompetitive in the global marketplace. We need to do what is truly competitive, not what is artificially made competitive through trade barriers.

There are 300 million people in the United States, versus 6.3 billion in the world. The biggest and fastest growing markets are in the developing world...the ones you want to build trade barriers against. A policy that believes we can hide from global trade merely ensures that your children (and mine) will get to look back and wonder what happened to the economic might of the United States.

I'm likely to vote for Obama, by the way, but that's because I took heart from the fact that his council of economic advisers are pro-trade, and the fact that his own people know his anti-NAFTA baffle was nonsense designed to beat Hillary Clinton in the primaries (who should have known better as well, but politicans rarely make sensible statements while on the stump).

Dear James,

I agree that McCain is really wrong for this country. He is not the 'maverick' that the media keeps talking about.

This Colombia trip, off-shore drilling, and his silence on the economy and education are continuing evidence that he has no place in the White House.

Keep the faith,

Just by your comments I know you are an uninformed individual that reacts only to news in an emotional manner. McCann (or any other politician) does not send our jobs out of the country, we do, the American people. Everybody bitches about this country and blames everyone/everything but the true problem, the lazy, overindulgent American public. Maybe someday you'll figure it out. But I doubt it.

I'd chime in with the fact that there are many important points to consider and lines of reason to follow when it comes to the global economy. The more important issue, I think, is NOT to make individuals out to be EVIL, etc. just because they are not your candidate of choice. These are citizens who are campaigning for our highest office....NOT villians or criminals to be reviled. Let's show some commons sense, facts and have a debate based on them, NOT paranoia. If Obama is the better candidate, then his merits will get him elected, not vitriol. Let's keep the conversation open and persuasive instead of hateful, which just turns ALL voters off.
